I tell my son he’s amazing everyday. Not because I feel that I have to. Or that I should. After all, at 10 months old he most likely has no idea what I’m even saying anyway (I say most likely because I do believe they understand more than we often realize!).
I tell him because I honestly truly believe it, so much so that I can’t help but say it. It just comes naturally.
Every single day I am in awe as I watch him grow and learn something new and do something he’s never done before.
And I am in awe that he’s actually here. And that I’m his mom. What an amazing, amazing gift. And one I pray I never take for granted.
And so, I tell him everyday he’s amazing, because it’s true.
I knew I loved him before he was born, but nothing could have prepared me for how much I would love him once he was actually here and I was able to get to know him.
His personality is really starting to shine through. He’s funny. He loves to laugh and smile. And he’s the best hugger I know š

It’s crossed my mind a lot lately how as much as I love him, God loves him (and me) even more than I could ever love my son. I’m still trying to comprehend that. It’s hard to wrap my mind around.
Perhaps God gives us children so we can better understand His love for us. And because of that, my son is even more amazing and something to be treasured. What a gift! It’s another reason he is so important.
I hope I continue to tell him he’s amazing everyday, even when he’s 16 and totally embarrassed by it.
And I pray he’ll one day have a child so he can understand why I believed it so much.
And I pray he’ll, too, be able to experience God’s love in a new way because of it. I still have’t quite grasped exactly what that means, but with a God who IS love, I never will fully be able to. But I know I am closer.
My son has given me a gift I never saw coming.
You’re amazing, little boy. Don’t you ever doubt it. I know I won’t.
